Howdy Fantasy Lovers, Fantasy Novices, and Fantasy Creatures! Welcome to Fantasy Football 101, where I, Kyle Bazin, will be sharing my opinions, experiences, and advice on Fantasy Football to you all.
So when I was writing my blog on Monday until about a minute ago when I started preparing this blog I had no idea what I would be writing about. I still don't really so here you go....
Is it good so far?
This is my favorite blog so far!
All jokes aside, I decided that I am going to talk about a couple of random topics that are quite relevant ideas/thoughts about fantasy football. The first will be a suggestion for the game itself and how it can possibly be better than it is. Which I know is hard but hear me out. I read this in a tweet a few weeks back and I loved it. What if we just got rid of the kicker position? I mean not completely got rid of it but morphed it with the Defense/SPECIAL TEAMS category. I mean it literally says special teams in the name, why do we have a separate position for it? I understand they make their own points but then it creates a fun position for D/ST's to be in. Maybe it is actually worth it to draft a defense like the Seahawks because they have such a consistent kicker and defense. Where maybe someone like the Patriots with Gostkowski and a more inconsistent fantasy defense wouldn't be drafted as stupidly high as he is. It is a very interesting idea and I really want to try it out myself. Maybe I could make this into a concrete idea in a league and be a revolutionary and get my face on a magazine with Matthew Berry! Maybe we can be pen pals! Maybe he will get me ice cream! Maybe I should stop sharing my most sacred dreams with my blog...
Secondly and lastly, running backs man... Holy cow... Like is there more than five running backs that will be healthy by the end of the year? All of the injuries at the position are actually hurting the NFL and fantasy football a lot. No one is going to want to play the position and that kills the way the game was played from its foundation. I understand the league needs to adapt, but the number of injuries is going to drastically change the game, or at least it should... Hopefully, the game can somehow change without making it touch football. I will miss my running backs if they're ousted. The current ramifications for fantasy though is that you have to be very versatile at the position in case of injury. If you're one of those people who own 4 backs and that is it... Change your strategy. You are going to have to take flyers on running backs earlier than you would like but to be ahead of everyone on the waiver wire you will need to. Unless you want to be the top team on the waiver wire (that means you're the worst team in the league)... You don't want to be that guy... Trust me.
As always, thanks for reading everyone. Again these are all MY OPINIONS! Do not take them as a Bible scripture and do not use my word as the only word. It is OK to make opinions for yourself! I promise! My next blog will be about my Week 9 Reflections and looking forward to Week 10.
